Coupling agent-based modeling with territorial LCA to support agricultural land-use planning

چکیده
Life cycle assessment (LCA) is applied to assess large-scale systems supporting policymaking. However, most LCA studies focused on evaluating the impacts of policies and strategic planning a static basis ignoring dynamic nature territory in which are implemented. This study aims develop territorial approach, linking agent-based modeling (ABM) with approach. ABM widely used tool simulate emerging considering human factors, recently developed approach featuring assessing multi-functional territories. To prove concept, framework was implemented case promoting bioenergy crops an agricultural southern region Belgium (Wallonia), farm size, familiarity, revenue. Geographical Information Systems (GIS) employed site-specific environmental individual decisions. The contrasts spatial temporal dynamics if implementing demonstration farms at different locations, assuming adopters will be provided subsidies over simulation time, farmers’ familiarities increase when nearby farmers turn into adopters. results show that initial locations for would lead level. Such knowledge interactions between behaviors land-use scenarios could bring insights policymaking, reasonable land Besides, by employing GIS estimate spatially explicit inventory unit processes, this work fills research gap lack application LCA, ABM, together. Further conducted to, e.g., explore introduction multiple use functions (besides production) various policy schemes, enhance socio-economic impact assessment, combine other approaches support decision making, participatory optimization.

Land use in LCA
α). Four different formulae are presented: a linear and a non-linear one for local damage, and a linear and a non-linear one for regional damage. The local linear function bears most resemblance to the IVAM formula for occupation: EDPlocal = 1 – (Socc / Sregion). The regional function includes the land use pattern already established in the region. The linear function is: EDPregion = dSlost / d...
متن کاملModeling Land Use with Multi-Agent Systems Perspectives for the Analysis of Agricultural Policies
This paper addresses the adequacy and perspectives of multi-agent system (MAS) models in the context of policy support for agricultural policy makers. The paper starts illustrating what MAS are and how they may be used. The general presentation is followed by the description of an exemplary spatial dynamic model of a large number of interacting farms (agents). This model is simulated for differ...
متن کاملCurrent research related to agent-based modeling of land-use/land cover change
My research in this area mainly focuses on methodological aspects on how to model the interactions between people and nature. These methodology studies are not restricted to LUCC but cover ecosystem management in general. A common element in the ecosystems of interest is the possibility of abrupt shifts among a multiplicity of very different stable domains. Multiple states have been observed in...
متن کاملTowards an Agent-based, Integrated Land-use Transport Modeling System
This paper reports on initial steps of an integration of the microscopic land-use simulation system SILO (Simple Integrated LandUse Orchestrator) and the agent-based transport simulation system MATSim (Multi-Agent Transport Simulation). It is shown how information can be transferred from the land-use model to the transport model in an agent-oriented fashion and how MATSim can be used as a trans...

In the study, consequences analysis of Akçagaz LPG Facilities accident was conducted. The consequences analysis, modeling studies were performed by the use of EFFECTS 10.0 Software over two liquefied gas LOC (Loss of Containment) scenarios. One of the scenarios was G1: Instantaneous release corresponding to BLEVE (Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapor Explosion) and the other was G2: Release in 1...
